Getaway has tiny cabins tucked away in the Catskills which is just a few hours outside of NYC. It’s easy to get lost in the hustle and bustle of living in cities, so we took a mid-week break to check out the surrounding areas. We loaded the Zipcar up with mostly camera gear (some clothes/snacks) and left from Brooklyn on our way upstate. Before we knew it, we started to get the small town vibes of New York. There were plenty of photo opportunities on our drive so we took took mandatory detours to enjoy them. Here’s the video and some photos of our trip!
Once we turned off the main road, the cabin was tucked away behind a few trees. We all quickly got out and eagerly explored. It had enough space for the 3 of us, a shower, space age toilet, cooking setup, and lots of cabin related knick-knacks. Most importantly, the place has plenty of windows to let in the natural light. We got the connection to nature like your camping – with a few amenities of modern living. Got to keep the camera batteries charged!
I wanted to video to show our Getaway experience and the importance taking a break from our day-to-day lives. You get to appreciate the simply things of just making food, taking swim/hike, and staring at a fire. We used the cabin as a home base in between our search of photos and swimming holes. This is already bringing back to nature as I sit here with the AC on and someone honking their horn.
