Welcome to the first post of our new monthly series called Analog Almanac. We’ll post a collection of photography shot on film every month or so. Since this is the first post I chose a collection of images that was shot in 2014 primarily with a Mamiya 7ii with the exception of the first that was shot on a friends hasselblad. Future posts will consist of current shots taken within that month. Normally I don’t leave the house without a camera, usually carrying a small point and shoot on me. When going on trips or photoshoots my usual photo kit consists of:
- Mamiya 7ii w/ 80mm
- Contax G2 w/ 21mm
- Contax T3
- Kodak Portra 400
- Cinestill 800
- Ilford HP5 or Kodak Tri-X 400
Typically I prefer natural lighting, although when lighting is necessary I pack really light bringing small flashes and reflectors. Because I shoot the majority of my photography with film people always ask about film processing. Well, if you’re in the bay area there are still many options available. I recommend Lightwaves. They’ve got small knowledgable staff that can help you with processing, scanning, and printing. If you live outside the bay area they provide mail services as well. We’re really excited for this monthly photo series, and hope to inspire some of you to start shooting more. Don’t forget to bookmark us to easily check back from time-to-time to see what we’ve been up to. You can see more of our work here and some of my personal work here.
